The Association of Private Practising Surveyors of Nigeria (APPSN), Lagos branch, has visited the Office of the State Surveyor General (OSSG) to celebrate “World Surveyors Day” as members engaged in a walk, through Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja.

The leader of the APPSN team, Surv. Aliu Samuel, who is also the Assistant Secretary of the Association, said the first-of-its-kind event to be held in Lagos with the theme, “SURVEYING AND GEOINFORMATICS: LOCATION IS LIFE”, was organised to sensitise the public on the importance of patronising registered surveyors and educating the populace on the menace associated with engaging unregistered surveyors.

He expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Office of the State Surveyor-General for the warm reception accorded his group, reiterating that the association will continue to sustain the existing mutual working relationship with the State Government. Surv. Samuel advised members of the public to desist from patronising quack surveyors in order to prevent sub-standard performance in the sector.

Responding, the Permanent Secretary/Surveyor-General, Surv. Olutomi Sangowawa, expressed delight to members for counting it worthy to visit the OSSG to celebrate the day, urging all surveyors to always exhibit good conduct and professionalism to further boost the image of practitioners

“Despite our different offices, we must always recognise our usefulness as it contributes to the betterment of Lagos State.

We should also endeavour to work together in order to maintain the vision of the association”, he said.

In his contribution, the Director Cadastral department, Surv. Ayo Adeshina, thanked everyone for celebrating World Surveyors’ Day with other international communities, maintaining that it is exciting that surveyors worldwide have a day to celebrate one another and the good work they do.
