Post Office robbery, shots fired, 1 of 4 suspects arrested, Ngqamakhwe

A Ngqamakhwe suspect is due to appear in court after he was arrested by police for business robbery on 14 March 2022.

A swift response led police to the arrest of a 29-year-old male for robbing the Post Office.

It is alleged that four unknown males entered and fired shots inside the Post Office while the staff was busy with their normal duties. One male among the four unknown males pointed one of the staff with a firearm and demanded money.

An undisclosed amount of cash was taken and police managed to arrest one suspect. Three suspects managed to escape and their arrest is imminent. Investigation is continuing.

The District Commissioner Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu appreciated the quick response by police as one of the suspects is arrested. He encouraged them to investigate properly to ensure that the other suspects in this case are brought to book.
