Stakeholders have extolled the outgoing government of Governor Willie Obiano for making education it’s strong pillar of growth thereby making Anambra State achieve laudable fits in the sector.
This was the views of respondents during the appreciation event held by the Ministry of Education for Governor Obiano at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.
The House Committee Chairman on Education at the State House of Assembly, Honorable Ejike Okechukwu and the former Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Honorable Harford Oseke, said the Governor understands the value of education, which made him give the sector the deserved attention.
The Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha who likened the Governor to an eagle which soars to enviable height said due to his commitment to basic education, students from schools within the state have gone around the world winning awards and making not just the state but the country proud.
She commended all parastatals under the Ministry for making concerted efforts for the results achieved.
In their remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Basic Education, Dr. Nwando Obiano and the Executive Chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, Dr. Franca Obi appreciated the Governor for his massive investment in education through welfare packages for teachers, to ensure maximum output in their impact of knowledge and ensuring that square pegs are in square holes in education management of the state.
Also, the traditional ruler of Umueri, Igwe Benneth Emeka and the National President, Anambra Association of Town Unions, Barrister Titus Akpudo, affirmed that the Governor has done well, as every community in the state enjoys quality education and prayed for God’s continued guidance even as he exits office soon.
