Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, Niger State chapter in North Central Nigeria has declared 7 days warning strike in the state with effect from the 5th of March, 2022, in solidarity with the plight of primary school teachers and local government workers with over nonpayment of six months salaries.

This was disclosed in a statement by the union, after the State Executive Council meeting in Minna the state capital by comrade Yakubu Garba.

The organised labour directed all affiliate unions of the NLC in the state to stay at home after the 14 days ultimatum earlier issued to the state government.

Comrade Yakubu Garba, the Niger State NLC chairman in a statement mentioned that workers in the state will proceed on 7 days warning strike to press home their demands which includes, “payment of backlog of gratuity, 3rd party charge deduction of workers salary for Contributory Pension Scheme CPS, Cooperatives, National Housing Funds, and check-off dues, among other demands”.

Equally the NLC in Niger State has further called on the state government to take more proactive measures in curtailing the level of banditry activities that is gradually spreading to other parts of the state.
