Awka Development Union Nigeria, Distributes Health Testing Kits To All Quarters In Awka

As part of efforts to improve the living standards of the people especially the downtrodden, the Awka Development Union Nigeria, ADUN, has distributed health testing kits to all the seven quarters in Awka Community, as a way of improving the people’s health.

Correspondent Kenechukwu Chukwudi reports that the testing Kit’s distribution exercise which includes blood pressure monitoring equipment and sugar level testing kit was kicked off at Ifite Awka quarters.

Speaking during the event, the President-General of Awka Development Union Nigeria, Chief Kanayo Nwogbo Said that the gesture is part of the efforts of the Development Union to improve the health of Awka indigenes, including those residents in the town.

Represented by the Deputy President General, Chief Onyebuchi Nwobu, the President-General of Awka Development Union Nigeria advised the people to always go for regular health check and called on the beneficiaries to ensure its optimum use.

He also called on Awka people to desist from acts capable of portraying the community in bad light.

In a remark the Secretary General of Awka Development Union Nigeria, Chief Alexander Nwachukwu who charged various quarters in Awka Community to set up health management team, adding that the union will embark on monitoring exercise to ensure adequate use of the kits.

In their various remarks some indigenes of Ifite Awka, including the President Rotary Club of Awka Nnamdi Azikiwe University Rotarian Abuchi Nwozor Chief Christopher Okonkwo and Chairman Enuifite village Mr Christian Nwanya described the move by the Awka Development Union as a good one, aimed at improving the health of the people and called for its sustainability.

Others who spoke at the event including Mr. Uchenna Nwoye from Ezinator village and a woman leader Mrs. Cecilia Nwabueze and the oldest Man in Ifite Awka, Chief Jeremiah Okeke described the donation as apt as the majority of people are suffering from high blood pressure and high sugar level without knowing, adding that the kits will aid its early detection.

The union later proceeded to visit other quarters including Amachalla na ato, Ayom na Okpala and Nkwelle to make similar donations.
