According to the motorsport body, the track will be 2,8 kilometres around Cape Town Stadium features 12 turns. The race has been in the works for the past two and a half years.
The E-movement consortium approached the City of Cape with the proposal of bringing the race to Cape Town in 2018.
The City agreed to do a feasibility study to see whether the race made sense for the metropolitan area.
In August 2021, the race was recommended to council, which approved the funds required to do road upgrades in the Green Point Precinct.
The upgrades will cost approximately R44 million, according to the City and funded by its Urban Mobility Directorate.
