Correctional services officer arrested after dead body found in room

The police in the Eastern Cape arrested a 47-year-old correctional services officer for an alleged murder on 1 March. The body of the deceased was found in the suspect’s quarters at his workplace and a manhunt was launched.

CORRECTIONAL SERVICES OFFICER FOUND AT TAVERN

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli said the suspect worked at the Fort Glamorgan Correctional Facility in East London.

At approximately 14:00 on Tuesday, Bulelwa Mxosa’s body was found in the suspect’s place with visible injuries to the body.

“A task team was immediately activated to search for the suspect and within four hours he was traced to a tavern in East London,” said Nkohli.

The suspect is expected to appear before the East London’s Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 3 March. He will be charged with the murder of the 45-year-old victim.
