March means more money for millions of South African workers with an increase in the minimum wages being announced, effective from 1 March 2022.
WORKERS TO MAKE MORE MONEY THIS MARCH
Finally some good news! First tolls increased and then petrol and electricity joined.
Price hike after price hike, as prices went up South Africans felt down, understandably so. However, we finally caught a break! Labour minister Thulas Nxesi announcing the new minimum wage in the country effective since Tuesday, 1 March 2022.
The new minimum wage in the country has grown to R23.19, per hour of work – an increase of 6.9%.
Finally, some more money in our pockets, it will certainly be needed with all these increases announced.

This includes the minimum wage for work across all sectors including domestic workers which brings the increase to 21.5% in this sector.
The Ukraine-Russia wall has had ripple effects on the world. With the SA economy taking a hit as a result, leading to a record increase in petrol and electricity across the country. The bad news is that these will continue to increase if the war continues with oil going up.
Thus, causing a ripple effect in the other sectors.
Inflation is imminent, therefore, workers are advised to budget wisely with the increase coming in the nick of time.
