Kimberly Guilfoyle Celebrates Historic Appointment as First Female U.S. Ambassador to Greece in Washington D.C.

Kimberly Guilfoyle, the former Fox News host and ex-fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., officially became the U.S. Ambassador to Greece this week, stepping into the role with a confident presence and a striking all-white pantsuit.

Friends, family, and supporters gathered quietly to witness the ceremony, including her son, who held the Bible during the swearing-in.

A Joyful and Lighthearted Ceremony

A source told the Daily Mail that Guilfoyle was in high spirits throughout the event.

“She was very excited to be the first female ambassador to Greece.

Everyone was laughing and joking with her,” the insider said.

“She even joked about brushing up on her Greek dancing skills.”

Several notable figures attended, including Gray Harker, who previously worked for Senator Ted Cruz, Michael Kratsios, the former director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and Christos Marafatsos, chairman of Greek Americans for Trump, who reportedly guided Guilfoyle through the entire nomination process.

Jennifer Wicks, director of the Office of Presidential Appointments, administered the oath.

Confirmation and Senate Vote

Guilfoyle’s nomination had been confirmed by the Senate earlier this month.

After returning from the August recess, Republicans prioritized a package of confirmations, which included Guilfoyle and 47 other Trump nominees.

The Senate voted 51–47 to approve the package, paving the way for her swearing-in and her eventual move to Athens.

Moving to Athens and Assuming the Role

Guilfoyle is expected to arrive in Greece and move into the official ambassador’s residence before the end of October, succeeding George Tsunis.

“I am profoundly grateful to President Donald J. Trump and the United States Senate for their trust and confidence in me,” Guilfoyle said.

“It is the honor of my life to serve as the first female Ambassador of the United States to the Hellenic Republic.”

She added, “Greece is the birthplace of democracy, liberty, and the rule of law — the very ideals that inspired our American Founders and continue to make America the greatest nation on Earth.”

Support from Family and Friends

Guilfoyle’s son, Ronan Villencey, 18, and her younger brother, Anthony Guilfoyle Jr., 53, were present to support her.

Donny III, her ex-fiancé’s son, also attended, highlighting that Guilfoyle maintains a relationship with her former partner’s five children.

Career Highlights and Political Background

Before her ambassadorial appointment, Guilfoyle spent 12 years at Fox News, including seven years as a co-host of The Five.

She left the network in 2018 to work for the pro-Trump America First super PAC.

Earlier in life, she was married to Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom for five years.

Her Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on July 9 was brief, with questions focused on Greece’s relationship with the U.S., Israel, Cyprus, and tensions with Turkey.

Twelve Republicans on the committee supported her nomination, along with one Democrat, Senator Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire.

A Nomination Amid Personal History

President Trump first announced his intention to nominate Guilfoyle in December, following her prominent role as a key surrogate in his 2024 campaign.

Her nomination came shortly after public developments in Donald Trump Jr.’s personal life, though he publicly congratulated her at the time.

With her swearing-in complete, Guilfoyle is now preparing to take up her duties in Athens, blending her media experience with her new diplomatic role.
