When you imagine the perfect London home, you might picture a stylish, sunlit space that balances luxury with comfort.
For former Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing and his wife Sophie Habboo, that vision became reality in the heart of trendy Notting Hill, west London.
The couple, who are expecting their first child, recently unveiled the stunning transformation of their five-bedroom semi-detached house, purchased last year for £4.1 million.
A Tour of the Heart of the Home
Jamie, 36, excitedly took his 1.6 million Instagram followers on a tour of the downstairs, showcasing a Mediterranean-inspired open-plan kitchen.
At the center sits a sprawling marble-topped island, bathed in natural light from four skylights above.
The kitchen seamlessly connects to a terraced garden on one side and a tastefully decorated living area on the other, complete with family photos, ornaments, and calming lime-washed walls.
Before the Makeover: A Suburban Starting Point
The house’s previous incarnation looked very different. Marketing photos from last year showed a more traditional, cluttered interior.
The all-white kitchen had a smaller island and lacked the state-of-the-art range cooker now in place.
The living room featured an oblong marble table surrounded by wooden chairs, with two large armchairs facing patio doors that opened onto a small, overgrown garden.
The property felt like a typical suburban home rather than the sleek townhouse it is today.
A Renovation Dream Realized
Over 14 months, interior designer Jojo Barr of House Nine led the transformation, turning the property into an upscale Notting Hill gem.
While Jamie hasn’t shared the upstairs yet, it’s likely just as impressive.
Original photos showed a main bedroom with bold red floral wallpaper, a bulky double bed, and traditional bathrooms—a far cry from the modern, elegant space the couple now calls home.
Jamie Laing: From Candy Kittens to Celebrity Life
Jamie’s wealth comes from various ventures, including co-founding the sweet company Candy Kittens in 2012.
He’s also connected to the McVitie’s brand through his ancestor Alexander Grant, who helped invent Digestives.
Jamie’s TV career has included appearances on Strictly Come Dancing, Celebrity Gogglebox, and The Great British Bake Off.
Together with Sophie, he co-hosts the popular podcast NearlyParents, attracting advertisers like Max Factor.
Settling Into Notting Hill
Neighbours say Jamie and Sophie have settled smoothly into their new area. One resident noted, “I saw him out running the other day.
They’ve got a lovely home, but so do many others here. No one makes a fuss because there are lots of famous people around.”
Another commented on the ongoing renovations in the neighbourhood, adding that projects are always handled professionally to avoid upsetting residents.
The Story Behind the Purchase
Jamie shared an Instagram post captioned, “Just in time,” detailing the journey of buying and renovating their first home: “14 months, 10,000 arguments and nearly divorced later, we’ve finally finished.”
The couple revealed that the former owner’s grandmother played a pivotal role in connecting them with the property.
Sophie immediately fell in love and jokingly threatened Jamie with divorce if he didn’t make an offer.
By the end of the day, the offer was in.
Personal Touches: Kitchen Dreams and Cinema Nights
Sophie revealed that designing the perfect kitchen was her top priority.
“I always wanted a massive kitchen with a big island.
For me, that’s the heart of the home,” she said.
Jamie, meanwhile, has indulged in a luxurious cinema room, complete with striped carpet, high-end speakers, a bar, and huge jars of Candy Kittens. “I grew up obsessed with films,” he explained.
“So, to have our own cinema where we can curl up with popcorn—that is the dream.”
From Friendship to Family
The couple’s romance blossomed from friendship in 2019, leading to an engagement two years later and a lavish Spanish wedding in 2023.
With Sophie now pregnant, their Notting Hill home marks the exciting start of a new chapter for the loved-up pair.
