Robert Quinn, the retired NFL defensive end, is once again in the spotlight following the release of unsettling footage from his January hit-and-run arrest in South Carolina.
The video, obtained by TMZ, shows Quinn with a bloodied face, struggling to communicate while handcuffed in the back of a police cruiser.
Belligerence Caught on Camera
In the footage, the 35-year-old former first-round pick, wearing a University of North Carolina t-shirt, can be heard questioning the officers:
“[Inaudible] why I’m being put behind this car?”
Shortly after, Quinn becomes visibly agitated and begins kicking at the interior of the police car’s door.
At one point, he tells officers, “I know you’re hearing me up front,” highlighting the tension and confusion during the arrest.
Ongoing Legal Troubles
Quinn currently faces misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and hit-and-run stemming from the January 10 incident in Charleston County, South Carolina.
He is scheduled to appear in court again this December. Quinn’s attorney declined to comment to TMZ regarding the case.
The Arrest Incident
Quinn’s bloodied mugshot first went viral in January, revealing injuries across his forehead, nose, mouth, and temple.
Authorities say the former NFL star allegedly fled the scene of a car accident before the local fire department arrived.
When police responded, they found Quinn in the passenger seat of a white Dodge Challenger.
The driver, reportedly called by Quinn, works at G-Club, a local gentleman’s club where Quinn had been earlier that evening.
Defiance and Resistance
According to police reports, Quinn displayed slurred speech and was uncooperative, even attempting to hold the car door closed to avoid arrest.
Officers eventually removed him from the vehicle and “escorted [him] to the ground.”
Investigators said a maroon Ford F-150 registered to Quinn had struck a Honda Element, which then collided with several other cars.
Surveillance footage captured Quinn’s truck driving erratically around 2 a.m., though the actual collision was not visible on camera.
History of Vehicular Incidents
This is not Quinn’s first run-in with the law involving vehicles.
In August 2023, he faced charges in South Carolina after reportedly crashing into multiple cars and slapping a woman during a dispute.
Earlier, in 2012, he was arrested in Missouri on a DWI charge.
NFL Career Highlights
Quinn was a first-round draft pick out of North Carolina in 2008 and enjoyed a 12-season NFL career, playing for the Rams, Dolphins, Cowboys, Bears, and Eagles.
He earned three Pro Bowl selections and amassed $112 million over his career before retiring in 2022.
South Carolina Legal Proceedings Continue
As Quinn awaits his December court date, the recent footage has reignited public and media scrutiny of the former NFL star’s post-career legal and behavioral issues in Charleston, South Carolina.
