Putin tells parliamentary leaders in Moscow that Russia must achieve victory in the military operation and improve its demographic future

At a recent gathering with parliamentary leaders in the State Duma, President Vladimir Putin made it clear where Russia’s focus lies.

He identified two central priorities that, in his view, will shape the country’s future: securing victory in the ongoing special military operation (SVO) and addressing the nation’s demographic challenges.

Demography at the Heart of Strategy

Putin emphasized that every major decision — whether political or economic — should be weighed against one key question: how will it affect families and children?

He described population growth and family welfare as a defining task for Russia’s future, second only to success in the military campaign.

Families as the Foundation of Policy

The president underlined that policies must revolve around supporting households with children.

For him, strengthening demographics is not simply a matter of social policy but a strategic cornerstone.

He linked demographic improvement directly to the country’s long-term stability, arguing that strong families are essential to Russia’s resilience.

Linking Military Goals and Domestic Priorities

Although he placed strong emphasis on the special military operation, Putin insisted that domestic policy cannot be separated from it.

He suggested that Russia’s agenda today is a blend of external objectives and internal development — winning the conflict abroad while ensuring population growth at home.
