Every year, the UBA Foundation brings together some of the brightest young thinkers in Nigeria through its National Essay Competition.
This initiative isn’t just about writing; it’s a platform designed to nurture a love for reading, spark intellectual curiosity, and promote healthy competition among senior secondary students—not just in Nigeria, but across Africa.
Essay Topic for 2025
This year, participants are challenged to reflect on one of Nigeria’s greatest strengths: its diversity.
Students are asked to write on:
“Nigeria is characterised by diverse cultures, ethnicities, and religions. How can young Nigerians deploy diversity to build a united nation?”
It’s an opportunity for young minds to propose ideas that celebrate inclusion while shaping a stronger, more cohesive society.
How the Competition Works
The competition unfolds in two stages:
Stage 1 – Call for Entries: The best 12 essays will be selected from all submissions.
Stage 2 – Final Test: These finalists will then participate in a physical assessment to determine the Winner, 1st Runner-Up, and 2nd Runner-Up.
