Alan Sugar threatens to sue Jamie Redknapp and Sky Sports in London after pundit claims former Tottenham chairman left club in a mess

Lord Alan Sugar has made headlines after threatening to sue Jamie Redknapp and Sky Sports following remarks the former Tottenham and Liverpool star made about Sugar’s time at Spurs.

The 78-year-old billionaire reacted angrily after Redknapp suggested that Sugar left the north London club “in a mess” during a live broadcast.

Redknapp’s Take on Spurs’ Leadership Changes

Redknapp, 52, appeared on Sky Sports during coverage of Tottenham’s recent London derbies, reflecting on Daniel Levy’s shock departure as chairman.

Levy ended his 24-year tenure just months after Spurs won their first trophy since 2008 under manager Ange Postecoglou, who was later replaced by Thomas Frank.

While emphasizing the positives, Redknapp compared Levy’s departure to previous leadership changes, noting improvements in the club’s infrastructure and fan relations.

“Whoever takes over—think back to how Alan Sugar left the club—it was a complete mess.

Daniel Levy has left this club in a really good way,” Redknapp said.

Sugar Fires Back on Social Media

Furious at the comments, Sugar took to social media on Saturday, calling Redknapp a “double barrel idiot” and threatening legal action.

“He said when Daniel Levy took over Spurs, Alan Sugar left the club in a right mess.

He and SKY will be hearing from my lawyers Monday,” Sugar wrote.

He followed up with another post adding, “I am coming after you Jamie Redknapp idiot.”

Redknapp’s Reflections on Spurs’ Future

During the broadcast, Redknapp praised Levy’s achievements, highlighting Tottenham’s stadium, training facilities, and overall infrastructure as among the best in the world.

He also noted areas for improvement, including fan relations and wage strategy.

“It’s a great time to be optimistic,” Redknapp said, pointing to CEO Vinai Venkatesham as someone capable of strengthening connections with supporters and building on the club’s successes.

Spurs Kick Off Strong Without Levy

Tottenham demonstrated their strength in the first game following Levy’s departure, defeating West Ham 3-0 at the London Stadium.

Pape Matar Sarr opened the scoring with a powerful header, followed by Lucas Bergvall’s stunning header after a West Ham sending-off, and Micky van de Ven sealed the victory with a composed finish.

The win marked Spurs’ third victory from four matches this season, signaling a promising start under the new leadership.

Fans Look Ahead with Optimism

Despite the drama off the pitch, Spurs supporters now have reasons to be hopeful.

Redknapp’s analysis, Sugar’s reaction, and the team’s on-field performance highlight the ongoing narratives in north London football, where fan sentiment, media commentary, and club leadership continue to shape the conversation.
