A shocking incident unfolded in the heart of Dublin when a bus crashed into pedestrians, leaving one person dead and three others hospitalized.
The tragic accident occurred on the pedestrian-friendly North Earl Street, highlighting the vulnerability of city walkers even in typically safe zones.
Immediate Emergency Response
The crash happened near the intersection of Talbot Street and Marlborough Street, involving a double-decker Bus Éireann vehicle.
Authorities quickly swung into action: An Garda Síochána and Dublin Fire Brigade rushed to the scene shortly after 12:30 PM.
Paramedics, firefighters, and emergency responders worked in coordination to manage the chaos and assist the injured.
Dublin Fire Brigade confirmed that over 20 firefighter/paramedics were deployed using four fire engines, two emergency tenders equipped with heavy rescue tools, and an advanced paramedic response car.
Additional support came from district officers, four ambulances, and a rapid response vehicle from the National Ambulance Service.
Scene Management and Safety Measures
A tent was erected around the crash site to shield the area, and a Garda cordon was put in place to control public access.
The front window of the bus was shattered, and authorities are currently treating the incident as a road traffic collision.
To ensure public safety, Luas Green Line services were temporarily suspended between Parnell Street and St Stephen’s Green.
Dublin Fire Brigade also coordinated with ESB and public lighting teams to secure the area.
By 1:25 PM, the emergency response was scaled back, but officials continued to urge the public to avoid Marlborough Street, North Earl Street, Talbot Street, and surrounding areas.
