Kelly Clarkson is stepping away from her daytime talk show after seven seasons, making a heartfelt decision to focus on what matters most: her children.
The announcement came via Instagram on Monday, shortly after reports hinted she was planning to leave The Kelly Clarkson Show.
The 43-year-old singer and entertainer is mom to River Rose, 11, and Remington “Remy” Alexander, 9, from her late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, who passed away last August at 48 after a battle with cancer.
Clarkson says this new chapter in her life requires her full attention at home, less than a year after losing the father of her children.
The Emotional Reason Behind the Exit
Clarkson opened up about her decision, explaining that stepping away from the daily demands of the show will give her the time to prioritize her kids.
“Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives,” she shared in a statement posted on Instagram and through the show’s official channels.
Inside sources had already hinted at Clarkson’s detachment from the show last year.
Staff reportedly felt uncertain about their future, joking that they were updating résumés in anticipation of change.
Despite this, Clarkson’s commitment to finishing the current season remains strong.
Gratitude for the Team and Fans
Even as she steps away, Clarkson made it clear how grateful she is for the people who made her show a success.
“I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at TKCS, both in Los Angeles and New York.
There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons,” she said.
She praised her colleagues, crew, and the musicians who supported her, calling them “the greatest band and crew you could hope for.”
She also thanked the talented guests, inspiring collaborators, loyal fans, and NBC for being “supportive and incredible partners.”
Not a Final Goodbye
While Clarkson is leaving her daytime show, she assured fans this isn’t the end of her public life.
“I’ll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you may catch me on The Voice from time to time … you never know where I might show up next,” she explained.
The singer reflected on her journey with the show, saying, “But for now, I want to thank y’all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years.”
Insider Perspective on Her Departure
A source close to Clarkson told Daily Mail that while she loves her talk show, it’s no longer her top priority.
“She is going to continue to give it her all this season, but she would like to wind it down and end it while still on top,” they said.
Since its 2019 debut, The Kelly Clarkson Show has become known for celebrity interviews, heartwarming moments, and the popular “Kellyoke” segment, where Clarkson performs song covers.
Praise from NBC and the Production Team
Executives at NBCUniversal highlighted the impact Clarkson had on the show and daytime TV.
Tracie Wilson, executive VP of NBCUniversal Syndication Studios, called the collaboration “extraordinary” and praised Clarkson’s warmth, humor, and connection with audiences.
She also acknowledged showrunner Alex Duda for guiding the program through seven successful seasons.
Valari Staab, chairman of NBCUniversal Local, thanked Clarkson and the production team for consistently delivering high-quality entertainment and said they look forward to finishing the current season strongly.
What’s Next for Kelly Clarkson
After the talk show ends, Clarkson is set to appear on The Voice: Battle of the Champions, premiering February 23 on NBC.
Meanwhile, The Kelly Clarkson Show will continue airing its seventh and final season through this autumn.
For now, Kelly is focused on her family, cherishing the time with River Rose and Remy, and leaving the door open for whatever creative ventures come next.
