Today show co-hosts express heartfelt concern while sharing updates on Nancy Guthrie disappearance in Tucson Arizona

Television viewers were moved on Monday morning as Jenna Bush Hager struggled to hold back tears while reporting a deeply concerning story about Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy.

The Today show correspondent shared the latest updates regarding the 84-year-old’s disappearance, showing genuine concern and compassion for both Nancy and her daughter.

Nancy Guthrie Goes Missing in Tucson

Nancy Guthrie, mother of the 54-year-old Today anchor, was last seen on Saturday night near her home in Tucson, Arizona.

Authorities described the situation at her residence as raising “grave concern,” prompting an extensive search involving drones, a helicopter, an airplane, search-and-rescue dogs, and numerous volunteers combing the local area for clues.

Bush Hager Urges the Public to Help

After co-anchor Sheinelle Jones provided the tip line for the investigation, Bush Hager appealed to viewers to come forward with any information.

“We love Nancy,” she said, visibly emotional.

“I know her personally, and we need to report that she takes daily medication, which is essential for her survival. She’s currently without her medication.”

She concluded with heartfelt words for Guthrie and her family: “We are thinking of our dearest Savannah and her whole family right now, and our prayers go out to them.”

Jones also offered her support, echoing the network’s concern and emphasizing the importance of community assistance.

Filling In for Guthrie, Jones Brings the Story to Light

Jones first shared the story on the Today show while filling in for Savannah Guthrie, alongside Craig Melvin.

“When Craig and I reported this story this morning, we shared the tip line number, and we’ll continue to do so,” she said.

“This is when we come together as a community. Even the smallest piece of information can make a difference.”

Search Efforts and Official Statements

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that the case is currently treated as a search-and-rescue operation, though authorities have not ruled out the possibility of foul play.

Nancy is described as 5ft 5in, weighing around 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Officials have not confirmed what she was wearing when she went missing.

Due to her age and mobility issues, Nancy is considered a “vulnerable adult,” though deputies noted she has no cognitive impairments.

Sheriff Nanos explained that certain findings at Nancy’s home are “concerning,” but investigators are keeping details private to avoid missing crucial information.

Savannah Guthrie Appeals for Public Assistance

On Monday, Guthrie addressed the news herself on the Today show.

“I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support,” she said.

“Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom.

We also thank law enforcement for their hard work and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s office at 520-351-4900.”

Ongoing Investigation

Nancy was last seen in the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson around 9:45 p.m. MST on Saturday.

The FBI and U.S. Customs and Border Protection have been notified and are assisting in the search.

While officials have not released further details regarding the “concerning evidence” found at her home, Sheriff Nanos emphasized that investigators are leaving no stone unturned.
