The Zaria community is in mourning after the death of renowned Islamic cleric Sheikh Usman Idris Kusfa, affectionately known as “Rigi-Rigi.”
He passed away on Monday at the age of 57, leaving behind a legacy of religious teachings and social media influence.
Cleric’s Death Confirmed by Senior Disciple
Nasiruddeen Umar, also known as Baharu, a senior disciple of the late Sheikh, told the News Agency of Nigeria that Kusfa died in the early hours of Monday at a private hospital in Kaduna.
Umar explained that the cleric had been battling an illness for several months before his passing.
A Legacy That Spanned Generations and Platforms
Sheikh Kusfa was widely respected for his Islamic teachings, attracting students and followers both in Zaria and online.
Over the years, he had become especially popular on TikTok and other social media platforms, where he shared his religious guidance and messages.
Family Left Behind
The late cleric leaves behind a large family, including four wives, 37 children, and numerous grandchildren, who survive him and continue to cherish his memory.
Funeral Arrangements Announced
According to his disciple, the funeral prayer for Sheikh Kusfa will take place in his hometown of Kusfa, Zaria City, at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
The community is expected to gather in large numbers to pay their last respects to a figure who touched countless lives through his teachings and online presence.
Remembering Rigi-Rigi
Sheikh Kusfa’s contributions to Islamic education, both offline and on social media, made him a household name in Kaduna State and beyond.
