Meghan Markle has always been open about the rituals that energize her mornings, and green juice has long topped her list of go-to wellness boosters.
In a recent interview, the former Suits star revealed how she starts her day, sharing insights into her fitness routine, breakfast habits, and why she prefers natural energy sources over coffee.
Early Mornings and Fitness Routine
While Meghan has previously said her day begins around 4 a.m. with gym sessions guided by her trainer—including strength training and yoga—she recently told Bloomberg’s Emily Chang on The Circuit that she sometimes wakes up a bit later, around 6:30 a.m., to cook a hot breakfast.
Despite the slight schedule shift, green juice remains a key part of her morning ritual.
“I think trying to go for coffee or things like that only end up hurting you in the end, so I like to get a really good natural source of energy like a great green juice,” Meghan said.
Biographers Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand have also noted that she rarely skips breakfast, making it a consistent part of her routine.
Green Juice in Practice and On Camera
Fans of Meghan might be surprised to learn that while she loves green juice, she isn’t a fan of the juicing process itself.
In episode six of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan is seen picking cucumbers, lime, orange, and celery in her garden to make a juice for chef Clare Smyth, who catered the Sussexes’ wedding.
“But then again, I haven’t done it in 20 years,” she admits, laughing at the messiness of juicing.
Using a £300 Hurom slow juicer, she notes the difference technology has made, bottling the juice with a label that reads “Clare’s magical green juice.”
Meghan’s Longstanding Green Juice Preference
Meghan’s love of green juice dates back to her Suits days.
In 2015, she revealed she would choose a blended apple, kale, spinach, lemon, and ginger juice over coffee, saying it provided a better afternoon boost than espresso.
She emphasizes that having a natural energy source in the morning helps sustain her through the day.
Celebrity Green Juice Trend
Meghan isn’t alone in embracing the green juice trend.
Actress Amber Heard went viral in 2021 for drinking a celery-based green juice while holding her newborn daughter, joking in her Instagram caption, “You can take the gal out of LA but you can’t take LA out of the girl.”
Breakfast as a Family Ritual
Beyond juice, Meghan enjoys cooking hot breakfasts for her family. “It’s not as complicated as people think,” she says.
She often prepares fried eggs and pancakes, sometimes adding ground flax and chia seeds to create “surprise pancakes” for her children.
For Meghan, breakfast is a sacred family ritual, offering a moment of calm before the day begins.
On busier days, she keeps it simple, feeding the kids frozen chicken nuggets and tater tots, providing a relatable glimpse into her parenting approach.
Filming and Family Life
Meghan has also explained that she doesn’t film in her own home.
“Our kitchen is where Mama just cooks for the family, and with a crew of 80-plus people, that’s a lot of people to have in your house!” she said, highlighting the challenges of blending family life with production demands.
Reception of With Love Season Two
The first season of With Love drew 5.3 million views and ranked in the top five percent of Netflix shows in early 2025.
Season two, however, has received mixed reviews.
While some critics described it as “marginally less mad but more needy,” Meghan was praised for being “genuinely earnest,” despite claims of the show feeling “staged, fake, and dull.”
Fans can still enjoy watching Meghan in the kitchen, and perhaps her signature green juice might even appear in her As Ever wellness line in the future.
