For many, travelling is a vacation. For Sarah, it became a complete life reset.

The solo traveller, who shares her journeys as @vivjewelry on social media, decided to leave her old life behind — quitting her job, letting go of almost all her belongings, and packing her entire world into just two backpacks.

“I quit my job, got rid of everything I own, and now my whole life is in two backpacks,” Sarah says.

Her six-month adventure, she explains, feels like a journey that “has no ending,” full of surprises and life-changing experiences.

San Jose del Pacifico, Mexico: A Hidden Mountain Gem

The first stop that completely blew Sarah’s mind was a tiny town in the mountains of Mexico called San Jose del Pacifico.

She describes it as “the most whimsical” and “magical” place imaginable.

“This little town is tucked away in the mountains, so colourful, filled with art and murals, and there’s no service at all, so you really have to disconnect.

It was one of my most favourite parts of Mexico,” she gushes.

Sarah also notes a curious cultural aspect: although mushrooms are generally illegal in Mexico, San Jose del Pacifico has a loophole due to indigenous traditions, allowing their use in spiritual or ceremonial practices.

Jordan: Desert Adventures and Ancient Wonders

Next on Sarah’s itinerary was Jordan, a country she visited with “no clue what to expect.”

From the food and culture to the incredible sights, the experience completely astonished her.

“In the week I was there, I saw the city of Amman, explored the Wadi Rum desert for two nights, went to a rave in the desert — which is so random — and, of course, visited Petra, which is absolutely insane,” she recalls.

Her Jordanian adventure didn’t stop there. Sarah swam in the Red Sea in Aqaba and floated effortlessly in the Dead Sea, describing the sensation as feeling “like a baby.”

Tamraght, Morocco: A Spontaneous Coastal Escape

On a whim, Sarah also visited Tamraght in Morocco after a recommendation from someone in Mexico.

The coastal town immediately captured her heart.

“Guys, I want to live here. It’s got the beach, great food, surfing, skating, and wonderful people.

I feel such a nice energy here, and I’m not even here in the high season,” she shares.

Sarah describes Tamraght as starting to feel like her “comfort place” and admits that leaving will be difficult.

“I’m going to be very sad when I have to leave, but I’ll be back,” she adds.
