Gauteng residents are waking up to a chilly morning, but the good news is that warmer conditions are on the way.
By the afternoon, the sun will be out and temperatures will rise, making for a pleasant day overall.
Weather forecaster Odirile Modipa explained that while clouds will spread across much of the country, the far western regions will still enjoy clear, sunny skies.
Temperatures to Look Forward To
The forecast promises a noticeable jump in temperatures as the day progresses.
Pretoria is expected to warm up to 26°C, while Johannesburg will reach a comfortable 29°C.
After a cold night, the afternoon heat will be a welcome change for many residents.
Sunshine Here, Showers There
While Gauteng is expected to remain dry, neighbouring provinces might not be as lucky.
Modipa noted that isolated showers could pop up in parts of the Northern Cape and North West.
In fact, scattered thunderstorms are likely in the northwestern areas of the Northern Cape.
Fire Danger Warnings Issued
One area of concern is the fire danger alert. High fire risk conditions are expected in the central and southern regions of KwaZulu-Natal, as well as in certain parts of the Northern Cape.
Residents in those areas have been urged to take extra care and avoid activities that could spark fires.
What It Means for Gauteng Residents
For those in Gauteng, today brings a relatively mild forecast—clear skies, warmer afternoons, and dry conditions.
But the fire risks in neighbouring provinces serve as a reminder of how quickly weather patterns can change and affect surrounding areas.
Do you think Gauteng is prepared for these risks, or should there be more awareness around fire safety?
