Governor Umo Eno Orders Akwa Ibom Commissioners to Present 2025 Achievements and 2026 Development Plans as Ministerial Briefings Begin in Uyo Nigeria

As the new year gathers momentum, the Akwa Ibom State Government is clearly wasting no time in laying its cards on the table.

Governor Umo Eno has drawn a clear line between planning and performance, making it known that 2025 and 2026 must reflect measurable progress that directly benefits the people of the state.

Commissioners Asked to Account for Performance and Future Plans

Governor Eno has formally instructed all commissioners to present detailed reports of their stewardship.

These reports are expected to cover their ministries’ achievements in 2025, staff strength, and clearly mapped-out plans for 2026.

According to the governor, every presentation must align strictly with the ARISE Agenda, which remains the guiding framework of his administration.

Two-Week Ministerial Briefings Kick Off in Uyo

The directive was announced as the governor declared open a two-week ministerial briefing at the State Executive Council Chambers in Uyo.

The daily sessions, running from January 12 to January 21, will feature presentations from members of the Executive Council, as well as Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

Governor Eno encouraged council members to use the platform to give a transparent and comprehensive account of their ministries, stressing that plans should go beyond budget figures and reflect the core objectives of the ARISE Agenda.

No Room for Excuses as Government Pushes for Impact

Speaking passionately, the governor made it clear that this year would be one of expansion and growth.

He noted that the administration intends to consolidate the gains made over the past two and a half years while scaling up projects and services that improve everyday life for Akwa Ibom residents.

According to him, the government has zero tolerance for excuses, emphasizing that 2026 must be defined by action, delivery, and visible results across all sectors.

Why the Briefings Matter

Governor Eno explained that the ministerial briefings were designed to frontload the state’s priorities and ensure early, focused, and efficient execution of government programmes.

He pointed out that the year ahead would involve both governance responsibilities and political activities, making clarity of purpose and coordination even more critical.

Call for Civic Engagement and Party Mobilisation

Beyond governance, the governor also urged council members to mobilise their constituents to actively participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise.

He further encouraged involvement in the e-registration of the All Progressives Congress, stressing the importance of political participation alongside development efforts.

Executive Council Expresses Readiness to Deliver

The Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, praised Governor Eno’s leadership style, describing it as fatherly and inclusive.

He also commended the initiative of holding the briefings, particularly the unusual “briefing-before-the-briefing,” and assured the governor that members of the Executive Council were fully prepared to deliver on their mandates.

Briefing Schedule Unveiled

Revealing the presentation lineup, the Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Adviser, Aniefiok Johnson, announced that the briefings would begin immediately, with the Ministry of Works and the Fire Service leading the sessions.

What’s Next?

With expectations clearly set and timelines already in motion, attention now shifts to how ministries will translate plans into action.

As the briefings unfold, Akwa Ibom residents will be watching closely to see how policies, projections, and promises turn into tangible results on the ground.
