Nigeria Police Smash Kidnappers’ Network as Joint Security Operation Rescues Three Victims and Arrests Six Suspects in Lafia Communities Nasarawa

Residents of parts of Lafia are breathing a sigh of relief after a coordinated security operation disrupted the activities of suspected kidnappers who had been terrorising nearby villages.

What began as a distressing report quickly turned into a success story, thanks to timely action by the police and local vigilantes in Nasarawa State.

Joint Operation Targets Kidnappers’ Hideouts

Police officers attached to the Assakio Division, working closely with community vigilante groups, stormed identified kidnappers’ hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages.

Both communities are located within the Lafia East Development Area of Lafia Local Government Area.

The operation led to the arrest of six suspected kidnappers, dealing a major blow to criminal elements operating in the area.

Three Victims Rescued Without Injuries

During the raid, security operatives successfully rescued three abducted victims—two women and one man.

According to the police, all three were freed without sustaining injuries.

They were immediately attended to and later reunited with their families, bringing emotional relief to loved ones who had feared the worst.

How the Kidnapping Unfolded

The Police Public Relations Officer in Nasarawa State, SP Ramhan Nansel, explained that the operation followed a formal complaint lodged on January 7, 2026.

The report revealed that suspected kidnappers had invaded Angara village, abducted two women, and left behind an infant.

The same gang later returned to kidnap a man from the village.

Once the information reached the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, he reportedly ordered an immediate manhunt for those responsible.

Arrests, Confessions, and Ongoing Investigation

The swift directive paid off. The suspects were tracked down, arrested, and the victims rescued.

SP Nansel disclosed that the suspects have since confessed to their roles in the crime.

On the instruction of the Commissioner of Police, they have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation and eventual prosecution.

Assurance of Continued Crackdown on Crime

The Nasarawa State Police Command has reassured residents that this operation is part of a broader and sustained effort to clamp down on all forms of criminal activity across the state.

The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, while encouraging residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely information.

What’s Next?

With investigations now underway, the next steps will focus on building a solid case against the suspects and ensuring they face the full weight of the law.

Security agencies are also expected to maintain increased surveillance and patrols in vulnerable communities to prevent a repeat of such incidents and restore lasting peace to the area.
