Mauricio Umansky and Jason Oppenheim face commission dispute with Amanda Lynn over Kanye West mansion sale in Malibu

What happens when TV glam meets million-dollar mansions? In Los Angeles, the world of luxury real estate has become as dramatic as any reality show, with Mauricio Umansky of The Agency and Jason Oppenheim of Selling Sunset caught up in a commission controversy over Kanye West’s former Malibu home.

The Sale That Never Closed

The $30 million sale of West’s notorious “Little Ando” mansion was called off last week, according to seller Bo Belmont.

Amanda Lynn, a Los Angeles luxury realtor who appeared on Season 8 of Selling Sunset, claims she had the exclusive listing and introduced the buyer.

Belmont had initially accepted the cash offer, but after months of delays and extensions, the buyer couldn’t deliver the funds, forcing him to cancel the sale.

“He was underqualified,” Belmont said. “We were aiming to close by the end of July, but he couldn’t come up with the money.”

Commission Controversy

Where it gets messy is in the split of commissions.

Lynn says she expected a three percent commission, but felt pressure to reduce it to one percent to make room for Umansky and Oppenheim. Belmont, however, disputes that claim.

“Amanda knew Mauricio and Jason were my listing agents the whole time,” Belmont told the Daily Mail.

“She agreed to the one percent. Everyone understood the arrangement.”

In short, while multiple brokers being involved isn’t unusual in luxury sales, Lynn’s source says she felt blindsided when the other two brokers were added to the deal.

The MLS Move

According to sources, Umansky and Oppenheim listed the property on MLS platforms like Zillow and Redfin on March 25, aiming to secure a higher asking price of $39 million.

Listing under their names reportedly gave them rights to commission alongside Lynn.

Belmont maintains this was all part of the agreed-upon structure and that nobody is receiving a commission because the sale was ultimately canceled.

Kanye’s ‘Little Ando’ Mansion History

The Malibu home has a storied—and very destructive—past.

West bought it in 2021 for $57.3 million and, over time, removed windows, doors, plumbing, electricity, and walls, leaving the house gutted and exposed.

Belmont later purchased it for $21 million, with plans to repair the damage and honor the original design by famed Japanese architect Tadao Ando.

The Road Ahead

Belmont is now renovating the property and seeking a new buyer.

Meanwhile, the commission dispute involving high-profile realtors, a canceled sale, and a famous former owner keeps the real estate gossip mill buzzing in Hollywood.
