What was meant to be a sparkling pre-wedding celebration for one bride-to-be ended in disappointment after Elton John and David Walliams booked out a restaurant in Cannes, allegedly pushing a hen party group off the guest list.
The incident has stirred up chatter online, with friends of the bride claiming their long-standing reservation at the popular La Guérite restaurant and beach club was suddenly scrapped.
A Cancelled Hen Meal
According to the group, they had reserved a table back in May to mark their friend’s upcoming wedding.
But just 24 hours before the celebration, the restaurant informed them their booking was cancelled because of a “semi-private event” hosted by Elton and Walliams.
Frustrated, one of the women took to Instagram to vent:
“Hope you enjoyed La Guérite! Our reservation was cancelled for my best friend’s hen do due to your ‘semi-private event’… We booked our table in May, didn’t think it would be cancelled with 24 hours’ notice.”
Another guest backed her up, saying: “So bad, isn’t it! We flew here especially for this for our friend’s hen.”
Elton and Walliams Living It Up
Meanwhile, Sir Elton John and David Walliams appeared to be having the time of their lives.
Walliams, 53, shared photos and clips from the sunny meal, sitting side by side with the music legend.
In one video, Walliams couldn’t resist leaping up when Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance with Somebody came on.
He swayed enthusiastically by the table, even leaning against Elton’s chair as the star laughed along, singing and eventually collapsing into giggles.
With sunglasses on and a huge grin across his face, Walliams looked like he was in holiday mode, while Elton, dressed in a relaxed summer shirt, appeared equally at ease.
Star-Studded Company
It wasn’t just Elton and Walliams enjoying the afternoon.
The group also included Heartstopper stars Kit Connor, Joe Locke, and Tobie Donovan, who posed for sunny snaps by the water.
Walliams later posted the highlights to X (formerly Twitter), captioning the moment simply: “Summer holiday.”
Elton’s French Connection
Sir Elton is no stranger to the French Riviera. Just last month, he dined at the same restaurant with his husband David Furnish.
The singer also owns a luxurious £15 million villa, nicknamed the “Yellow Palace,” perched along the coast from Cannes.
As for the hen party, it remains unclear if the stars had any idea about the cancelled reservation, with reports suggesting it’s unlikely Elton or Walliams were aware.
The Daily Mail has reached out to the restaurant, and both men’s representatives, for comment.
