President Donald Trump Visits Florida Marble Store to Select Marble and Onyx for White House Ballroom Renovation

President Donald Trump spent Friday morning in Lake Worth, Florida, browsing slabs of marble and onyx for his ongoing White House ballroom project.

According to a White House official, the purchases are being made at Trump’s personal expense, with the motorcade stopping just four miles from Mar-a-Lago at Arc Stone & Tile.

Ballroom Project Under Legal Scrutiny

The White House ballroom initiative is now at the center of a legal dispute.

Preservation groups have challenged the project after Trump demolished the East Wing without formal government oversight.

While a judge has allowed construction to continue, the White House was still expected to submit detailed plans to the National Capital Planning Commission by last Wednesday.

During a recent court hearing, Department of Justice attorneys described the ballroom plans as still evolving and stressed the need for ongoing construction, citing national security concerns.

The White House’s underground bunker sits beneath the former East Wing, adding another layer of complexity to the project.

Trump’s Longstanding Love Affair with Marble

Marble has long been a personal passion for Trump.

He has already installed the stone in the Lincoln Bedroom’s renovated bathroom and on the Palm Room floor.

His fascination extends beyond the U.S.: during a May trip to the Middle East, he marveled at the palaces of Doha, Qatar, repeatedly highlighting the quality and rarity of white marble.

“This room is the real deal. That’s called white marble.

It’s very hard to buy, believe me, I know very well,” he said while signing agreements alongside Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

At the Amiri Diwan, he added, “As a construction person, I’m seeing perfect marble. This is what they call — perfecto.”

Expanding Marble Projects in Washington

Trump’s marble ambitions don’t stop at the ballroom.

Last week, he suggested adding marble armrests to the newly renamed Trump-Kennedy Center seating, calling it “unlike anything ever done or seen before” on Truth Social.

He also recently discussed plans for the “Triumphant Arch,” nicknamed the Arc de Trump, a commemorative structure across from the Lincoln Memorial to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary, with construction potentially starting by February.

Additionally, Trump hinted he still intends to paint the Eisenhower Executive Office Building white.

Preservation groups have filed lawsuits over this plan as well, objecting to the proposed change of the historic 1888 slate-gray building.

Trump’s Vision for a Marble-Filled Capital

From his Florida marble shopping trip to his plans for the Arc de Trump and marble-covered Kennedy Center seating, it’s clear Trump sees these projects as a way to leave a personal mark on Washington, D.C. Whether preservationists agree or not, the president continues to pursue his vision of a gleaming, marble-filled capital.
