Police launch urgent investigation as three people are found shot dead in Muizenberg Western Cape

The community of Muizenberg in Cape Town has once again been shaken by a brutal act of violence.

Late Saturday night, residents were left reeling after the discovery of three bodies following a deadly mass shooting, raising fears in a town already struggling with violent crime.

Police Discover Three Victims

Authorities confirmed that the bodies of one man and two women, all aged between 29 and 32, were found in Mike Place, Xakabantu, at around 11:30 p.m.

Their deaths have been described as “gruesome” and are now the focus of an intense police investigation.

A Survivor Escapes With His Life

In the midst of the tragedy, one man managed to escape with his life.

He survived a gunshot wound and fled the scene before being found.

Police have yet to release further details about his condition but confirmed that he is receiving medical care.

Suspects Still at Large

According to Colonel André Traut, spokesperson for the South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Western Cape, the attackers fled the scene and have not yet been arrested.

Detectives are still trying to piece together the motive for the attack.

“In the meantime, policing in the area has been intensified to prevent further violence,” Traut explained.

He also appealed to the public for help, urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or submit tips anonymously via the MySAPS app.

Not the First Incident This Week

This horrific attack comes just days after another mass killing was reported in Overcome Heights, also in Muizenberg.

On Wednesday, August 13, four men were found shot dead on Mountain Road in the early hours of the morning.

The victims, aged between 20 and 37, each suffered fatal gunshot wounds, with their bodies discovered at around 5:30 a.m.

Growing Concern in the Western Cape

With two mass murders reported in less than a week, Muizenberg residents are living in fear, calling for stronger policing and community safety measures.

The back-to-back tragedies have sparked conversations about crime, security, and the deep-rooted challenges facing communities in the Western Cape.
