Chelsea have reportedly opened discussions with Bayern Munich over the potential sale of Christopher Nkunku.
While the German champions are said to prefer an initial loan deal, talks are ongoing as both clubs weigh their options.
Nkunku, 27, has seen his role at Stamford Bridge diminish this summer following the arrivals of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, and Willian Estevao.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca acknowledged back in June that Nkunku could leave the club this summer, signaling that the Blues are open to parting ways despite the Frenchman having signed a six-year deal worth £52.7million just two years ago.
Nkunku’s Departure Could Unlock New Targets
If Nkunku does move on, Chelsea are expected to accelerate their pursuit of other midfield and attacking talents.
Chief among them are Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig and Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.
Simons, 22, is believed to be open to a move to Chelsea after RB Leipzig failed to secure Champions League football for the upcoming season.
The Dutch international had joined Leipzig permanently last summer for an initial £43million, with potential add-ons of £26million, following two seasons on loan from PSG and a year at PSV.
Chelsea have already held preliminary talks with Simons’ representatives.
Chelsea Intensify Interest in Alejandro Garnacho
Meanwhile, the Blues are also stepping up their efforts to sign Garnacho.
Manchester United have reportedly asked for a valuation, with Chelsea hoping to land the 21-year-old for around £50million—well below United’s original £70million asking price.
Garnacho, who has been told he has no future at Old Trafford, is reportedly eager to make the move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Chelsea’s hierarchy have reportedly conducted thorough checks and have no concerns over Garnacho’s character.
The Argentine winger has made 144 appearances for United, scoring 26 goals and providing 22 assists.
He has also collected silverware, winning the FA Cup in the 2023-24 season and the EFL Cup the year before.
A Summer of Strategic Moves
Chelsea appear ready to reshape their squad this summer, balancing departures like Nkunku with high-profile signings in Simons and Garnacho.
The club is clearly targeting younger, dynamic talent while managing its transfer budget carefully, aiming to build a team capable of competing at the top level domestically and in Europe.
