Residents in Gauteng should brace for a lengthy power interruption this Friday as Eskom carries out essential maintenance on its distribution network.

The electricity provider has scheduled a nine-hour outage aimed at keeping the province’s power supply safe, reliable, and efficient.

Specific Areas and Timing of the Outage

The maintenance is set for Friday, 15 August, from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM, impacting parts of Zonkezizwe.

This includes extension areas 1 through 5. Eskom emphasized that the temporary disruption is part of a routine plan to service and upgrade electrical infrastructure, ensuring long-term reliability for customers.

Recent Outages Across Gauteng

This is not the first time residents have faced such disruptions.

Earlier in the week, on Wednesday, 13 August, Orlando West experienced a nine-hour power cut affecting Killarney, Mzimhlophe, and Orlando West, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

These planned outages are part of Eskom’s broader strategy to maintain the distribution network across Gauteng.

Safety Tips During Power Cuts

Eskom urges residents to treat all electrical appliances as live during the outage to avoid accidents.

The utility thanked the public for their patience and apologized for any inconvenience the maintenance may cause.

Staying Prepared Amid Ongoing Disruptions

With ongoing power and water supply interruptions in Gauteng, residents are encouraged to plan ahead.

Eskom and local authorities advise keeping essential appliances unplugged, charging devices in advance, and staying informed through official communication channels.
