It was a heartbreaking morning in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, when singer Luna Alves tragically passed away just hours after performing at a local bar.
The 39-year-old artist was at home resting when her husband, fellow musician Guilherme Schreiner, realized something was wrong and quickly called for emergency help.
A Sudden Health Crisis in the Early Hours
Guilherme recalled the night’s peaceful start: “I went to bed around 1:40 a.m., and she was doing great.
We watched some videos and then went to sleep.” But at about 5:10 a.m., he heard Luna struggling and found her unwell in bed.
He immediately contacted emergency services and was guided by a doctor over the phone until paramedics arrived.
Sadly, despite the quick response, emergency workers pronounced Luna dead shortly after arriving.
Guilherme shared that Luna had shown no signs of illness during her performance that evening, making the shock even more profound.
Fond Farewell From Luna Just Before Bed
Before heading to sleep, Luna filmed a heartfelt video thanking her fans and everyone who supported her music.
“I’m home, I’m going to sleep. But first, I want to thank God immensely for the gift of life, for the gift of my voice,” she said softly in the clip.
She expressed deep gratitude for the kind words and encouragement she had received after her show, sharing, “It’s wonderful to do work where people praise you and like what you do.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
From Agricultural Worker to Local Music Star
Though Luna worked full-time at an agricultural company, her true passion blossomed in 2019 when she started singing.
Over the years, she became a familiar face in Cuiabá’s music scene, performing two to four times a week at local bars and cultural venues.
She had even spoken about her excitement for an upcoming gig at the Chapada dos Guimarães Winter Festival in 2026, a dream cut tragically short.
Remembering Luna’s Family and Legacy
Luna is survived by her husband Guilherme, to whom she had been married for three and a half years, and her two daughters from a previous relationship, aged 9 and 19.
Her eldest daughter, Maria Queiroz, paid a touching tribute on Instagram, writing, “I love you forever, mom. My Lucinha.”
Guilherme shared his grief too, saying, “I lost a woman, I lost a partner.
I just ask God for the strength to carry on.”
