Lara Trump reveals the sentimental Christmas gift the Trump family gives Donald Trump each year as holiday traditions unfold at Mar-a-Lago in Florida

Finding the perfect gift for a former president isn’t easy, but Lara Trump says the Trump family has discovered a simple tradition that works every year.

In an interview with the New York Post, she revealed that Donald Trump consistently receives framed family photos — a gift he genuinely enjoys.

The Simplicity That Works

“Every year he gets basically framed photos of us with him.

But he likes them. And a lot of them go on the desk behind him in the Oval Office,” Lara explained.

She added that the president already knows what’s coming, noting it has become the standard for both Christmas and his birthday.

While the gift may be straightforward, Lara admitted it’s still tricky to pick something truly special for someone who has “given so much to us as a country.”

The family often debates what could measure up to the role he plays, but in the end, sentimental family photos always win.

Grandkids and the Candy Tradition

When it comes to gifts for Trump’s grandchildren, Lara said that task largely falls to the First Lady.

The children, however, have a particular tradition they eagerly anticipate: raiding their grandfather’s candy stash in his Mar-a-Lago office.

The desk is often stocked with Starburst, fun-size Snickers, M&Ms, and sometimes even king-size candy bars, much to the delight of the kids.

It’s become a playful, festive ritual that adds a sweet touch to the holiday celebrations.

Family Gatherings and Festive Cheer

The Trump family is expected to gather in full force this year, attending Christmas Eve mass at Bethesda-by-the-Sea, the church where Donald and Melania wed.

Lara noted that the growing number of children and grandchildren makes the holiday table feel lively and joyful, a welcome sight for the family.

Beyond the immediate family, the celebrations at Mar-a-Lago are set to include roughly 500 members and possibly celebrity guests, continuing a longstanding tradition of blending family warmth with social gatherings.

Decorating with a Personal Touch

At home, Lara and Eric embrace the holiday spirit with a Christmas tree decorated with sentimental and patriotic ornaments.

Handmade creations from their children sit alongside White House ornaments from Donald and Melania’s term.

Adding a signature Trump touch, the couple traditionally tops their tree with MAGA hats — this year, they went all out by placing two at the very top, combining family tradition with a playful nod to their political legacy.

Sentiment Over Splendor

For the Trump family, the holidays are about more than expensive gifts or elaborate displays.

Lara’s insight underscores that even for those in the spotlight, simple, heartfelt gestures like framed photos, family traditions, and shared sweets can be the most meaningful way to celebrate the season.
