Harley Street Surgeon Yannis Alexandrides Faces Council Order to Demolish Rooftop Pergola on Chelsea Townhouse

Dr Yannis Alexandrides, a Harley Street cosmetic surgeon whose clientele includes Hollywood stars and fashion royalty, has been told to dismantle a luxury rooftop structure on his £6.7 million Chelsea townhouse.

Known for his cult skincare brand 111Skin, Dr Yannis installed the sleek metal pergola on the roof terrace of his family’s three-storey home, aiming to enjoy London sunsets in style.

Council Objects to Modern Rooftop Addition

The pergola, which complements the couple’s previously approved rooftop conservatory, caught the attention of Kensington and Chelsea Council.

Officials argued the structure was built without planning permission and clashed with the elegant redbrick terraces of the exclusive SW3 neighbourhood.

The council claimed it disrupted the area’s historic architectural rhythm and diminished the charm of the conservation area.

Inspector Rules Against Cosmetic Compromise

Dr Yannis, 58, and his wife Eva, 50, had hoped to remodel the pergola to satisfy planners, but the Planning Inspectorate disagreed.

Inspector Andy Harwood concluded that the structure was “very prominent and jarring,” rising conspicuously above the roofline and detracting from the terrace’s character.

He noted that the blinds, if closed, would make the pergola even more visually intrusive, stating it failed to meet “the highest standards of urban design and architectural quality.”

A Home Built for Family Life

The Alexandrides family has invested heavily in their Chelsea home.

During the pandemic, Eva described it as a “refuge,” and the couple undertook a full-scale renovation before moving in.

The living room and kitchen were relocated to the first floor to maximise light, bedrooms moved to the ground floor, and the basement converted into a private gym.

The house is filled with artwork from around the world, reflecting the family’s global tastes.

111Skin: A Global Skincare Powerhouse

Dr Yannis’ 111Skin brand has become a favourite among celebrities such as Margot Robbie, Victoria Beckham, Priyanka Chopra, Bella Hadid, and Kim Kardashian.

Stocked in Harrods, Selfridges, and Net-a-Porter, the brand has sold over 18 million Rose Gold Brightening Facial Treatment Masks since its launch in 2018.

In January, 111Skin secured investment from Kim Kardashian’s private equity firm, SKKY Partners, to expand further into North America and Asia.

Life-Saving Skills Off the Operating Table

Dr Yannis’ expertise isn’t limited to aesthetics.

He recently received praise from TV sports presenter Laura Woods after she collapsed mid-broadcast during ITV coverage of an England Women’s football match.

Woods credited Dr Yannis and his assistant for opening their clinic on their day off, providing gentle care, and minimizing injury.

Demolition Deadline Looms

Despite the family’s attempts to keep the rooftop oasis, the inspector’s ruling is clear: the pergola must be fully removed within six months.

While it may be a blow to the couple’s plans for luxurious outdoor living, Dr Yannis and Eva remain a high-profile pair whose home renovations and celebrity skincare brand continue to attract attention worldwide.
