The summer has been anything but smooth for Alejandro Garnacho at Manchester United.

The young Argentine winger, once a rising star, now finds himself in a tricky spot—pushed out of the squad and looking for a way out of Old Trafford.

With Chelsea showing serious interest, Garnacho has made his intentions clear to United: either let me leave, or I’m prepared to spend the season on the bench.

Garnacho’s Difficult Summer and the ‘Bomb Squad’ Label

At the start of this summer, manager Ruben Amorim handed Garnacho a tough message—he was part of what’s been dubbed the ‘bomb squad,’ a group of five players exiled from the main plans, including Jadon Sancho, Antony, Marcus Rashford, and Tyrell Malacia.

Garnacho’s frustration boiled over when he found himself benched during the Europa League final, prompting Amorim in May to tell him to find a new club if he wanted regular football.

Chelsea Steps In With Strong Interest and Talks Begin

According to insider Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have already agreed personal terms with Garnacho and are now deep in negotiations with Manchester United over a transfer.

Initially, United were holding out for a hefty £70 million, but the asking price has dropped to around £50 million in hopes of facilitating a deal.

Chelsea’s management has reportedly done their homework on Garnacho and have no worries about his attitude or character—an encouraging sign as talks continue.

Garnacho’s Manchester United Legacy So Far

Though now on the outs, Garnacho has made significant contributions at United, appearing in 144 games with 26 goals and 22 assists.

He was part of the squads that won the FA Cup in 2023-24 and the EFL Cup the previous season, highlighting his talent and value on the pitch.

Chelsea’s Potential Swap Deal with RB Leipzig

In other Chelsea transfer news, the club is also in discussions with RB Leipzig about a possible swap deal involving Xavi Simons.

This deal could see Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku, who previously had a successful run at Leipzig before moving to London, return to the Bundesliga side in exchange for Simons.
