It’s been a promising few days for Kaizer Chiefs supporters.

After celebrating a solid win over Stellenbosch, fans now have more reasons to smile as the club eyes a couple of exciting new additions — including a talented winger who could join without costing a transfer fee.

Cape Town Spurs Winger Asanele Velebayi Now a Free Agent

One of Chiefs’ long-term targets, 22-year-old Asanele Velebayi, is officially a free agent.

The news came after Cape Town Spurs were relegated to the National First Division, triggering a ruling from the Premier Soccer League’s Dispute Resolution Chamber that declared Velebayi free to move.

SABC Sport journalist Mazola Molefe confirmed the decision, clearing the way for Chiefs to sign the promising winger without paying a transfer fee. This could be a real win for the club as they look to strengthen their squad this winter.

A Smart Deal on a Young Striker Too

But that’s not all — Chiefs are also reportedly eyeing 19-year-old striker Luke Baartman, another promising talent who could come on board for as little as R3 million.

Baartman appeared nine times in last season’s Betway Premiership and scored twice, showing a lot of potential without posing a big financial risk.

Looking Ahead: Tough Fixtures in August

Chiefs have a busy month ahead with some important games lined up:

  • Wednesday, 13 August: Amakhosi vs Polokwane City

  • Tuesday, 19 August: Amakhosi vs Richards Bay

  • Wednesday, 27 August: Mamelodi Sundowns vs Amakhosi

  • Saturday, 30 August: Golden Arrows vs Amakhosi

It’s shaping up to be a crucial stretch as Chiefs build momentum and integrate any new players.
