Natalia Bryant, daughter of the late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, has won a five-year extension on her restraining order against alleged stalker Dwayne Kemp.
The move comes after Kemp was reportedly spotted trying to deliver flowers to the Bryant family in August, raising renewed safety concerns.
History of the Restraining Order
The restraining order was first granted in 2022, two years after Kemp allegedly began contacting Natalia.
Following his recent actions, a Los Angeles County judge amended the order to extend protection not only for Natalia but also for her mother, Vanessa Bryant, and her younger sisters, Bianka and Capri.
Incident at August Event
Court documents reveal that Kemp attempted to circumvent the restraining order on August 24 by attending a public event hosted by Natalia and her employer.
He reportedly brought flowers with the intent of giving them to Natalia but, unable to locate her, tried to hand them to Vanessa Bryant instead.
According to filings, Kemp admitted that his actions violated the order but claimed he believed it had expired.
Security and Evidence
Security staff detained Kemp at the event, and surveillance images confirm him holding a bouquet of flowers.
Kemp allegedly posted similar flowers online, reinforcing the claim that he was actively trying to contact Natalia indirectly.
Court filings describe Kemp as continuing to demonstrate “complete disregard” for the Civil Harassment Restraining Order.
Concerns Over Firearms
The Bryant family’s lawyers cited Kemp’s alleged interest in firearms as a serious concern.
The filings mention a registered firearm and include photos of Kemp holding an assault rifle, adding to fears for Natalia and her family’s safety.
Pattern of Harassment
Kemp first reportedly contacted Natalia when she was just 17, months after the deaths of her father Kobe and sister Gianna in 2020.
Alleged harassment began with social media messages and escalated over time, including attempts to reach her at her sorority.
The University of Southern California even warned Kemp he would face arrest if he returned to campus.
Police Involvement
The LAPD has previously intervened. In 2022, Detective A. Camarillo sent Kemp a letter warning him to stay away from Natalia.
The department cited concerns for her safety and confirmed that Kemp’s behavior prompted an official police investigation.
Legal Protection Continues
With the recent five-year extension, the Bryant family has strengthened its legal protections against Kemp.
Attorneys emphasized that the restraining order covers all family members and aims to prevent any further attempts by Kemp to contact or harass them.
Attempts to reach Kemp for comment have so far been unsuccessful.
Looking Ahead
The extended restraining order ensures continued legal recourse for Natalia and her family should Kemp attempt any further contact.
The Bryants, still coping with past tragedies, now have added security and peace of mind as the legal system formally reinforces their safety.
