Ride sharing company Rove accuses Eva Longoria’s Casa Del Sol tequila brand of owing 30 million rands for unpaid advertising campaign in South Africa

When you think of tequila, you might picture parties, glamour, and A-list endorsements — not a multimillion-rand legal battle.

But that’s exactly where Eva Longoria’s tequila brand, Casa Del Sol, finds itself.

The company is now caught in the middle of a messy dispute with ride-sharing startup Rove, founded by Jack Brinkley-Cook.

According to court documents, Rove says Casa Del Sol still owes them R30 million (around $2 million) for an advertising campaign that was never fully paid for. And they’re not letting this one slide.

The Advertising Deal Gone Wrong

The trouble, according to The Blast, began with a multi-year agreement for Casa Del Sol to feature its ads through Rove’s platform.

Payments were supposed to cover high-visibility advertising displays — but Rove claims that by late 2023, the tequila brand stopped paying altogether.

November and December 2023 invoices allegedly went unpaid, and January 2024 wasn’t any better.

Rove says they were repeatedly promised payment, but nothing materialised. By January, they had no choice but to pull the plug on the campaign.

Rove’s Financial Fallout

This wasn’t just a missed payment — Rove claims the unpaid bills left them nursing big losses.

The company says they’d already invested heavily to make the campaign happen, including buying vehicles that were never used, setting up technical infrastructure, producing advertising materials, and hiring extra drivers and staff.

Now, they’re suing Casa Del Sol for R30 million to cover those costs.

Lavish Parties Amid Missed Payments

Adding fuel to the fire, Rove’s lawsuit points out that while invoices went unpaid, Casa Del Sol wasn’t exactly tightening its belt.

In 2023, the tequila brand reportedly hosted a glitzy party in Aspen with celebrity DJ Diplo headlining.

They also allegedly rented a luxury Hamptons mansion for TikTok star Alix Earle and her friends — an influencer getaway that certainly didn’t come cheap.

Eva Longoria’s Role and Response

Although Eva Longoria co-founded Casa Del Sol, she isn’t personally named in the lawsuit.

Still, her connection to the brand means her name is inevitably caught up in the headlines.

Her lawyer, Andrew Bochner, says the company is taking the claims seriously and has launched an internal investigation.

“We are reviewing these matters with the utmost seriousness,” he said, adding that they’re exploring all options before responding officially.

What This Means for Celebrity-Led Brands

The case is shaping up to be more than just a fight over unpaid bills — it’s also a test of how celebrity-backed businesses handle financial disputes.

With millions at stake and a brand’s reputation on the line, industry watchers will be keen to see whether Casa Del Sol works toward a settlement or digs in for a prolonged legal battle.
