Manchester United know they need firepower up front—and fast.
Last season saw goals dry up, and while the club has a few standout talents, no one truly led the charge in the scoring department.
Now, as new manager Ruben Amorim settles into his first full pre-season at Old Trafford, United are actively searching for the right striker to fix that problem.
Sesko Still the Main Target… But It’s Getting Complicated
RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko remains top of United’s wish list.
The 22-year-old Slovenian striker has been catching the eye of United’s recruitment chief Christopher Vivell, who sees him as a perfect fit to revitalise the team’s attacking line.
But it’s not a clear path. Newcastle are making their own aggressive move for Sesko as they brace for the possible exit of Alexander Isak, who’s reportedly keen on a switch to Liverpool.
The Magpies even made a formal offer for Sesko recently and are now tweaking that bid in hopes of getting him to St James’ Park.
United are expected to send in their own offer soon—but they’ve got backup plans if things don’t go their way.
Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson Enters the Picture
If the Sesko deal falls through, Manchester United are considering turning to Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson.
The Senegalese striker had a strong campaign last season, scoring 13 goals and helping Chelsea win the Conference League.
But with new signings flooding into Stamford Bridge—like Ipswich’s Liam Delap and Brighton’s Joao Pedro—Jackson might be pushed down the pecking order under Enzo Maresca.
That’s opened the door for other clubs to swoop in, and United are keeping a close watch.
Kolo Muani Could Be a Surprise Option
Another name being discussed is Randal Kolo Muani.
The French forward joined PSG in 2023 but didn’t get to be part of their Champions League glory last season, having been loaned out to Juventus.
Now, with PSG reportedly open to letting him go permanently, things get interesting.
Talks between Juventus and PSG have reportedly stalled due to payment issues—Juve want to spread the cost of the £45 million deal over several years, which is slowing things down.
United and Spurs are reportedly waiting in the background, ready to pounce if the deal collapses.
United Not Interested in Juventus Star Vlahovic
One name that’s not on Amorim’s radar? Dusan Vlahovic.
Despite reports from Italy claiming that Juventus are keen to offload one of their highest-paid players—and even offering him to United—there’s apparently no interest from the Red Devils.
Interestingly, Vlahovic has a decent scoring record in Serie A, but United appear to be moving in a different direction with younger, more dynamic profiles.
Hojlund Says He’s Staying to Compete
If United fail to bring in a new striker this summer, Rasmus Hojlund looks set to retain his role as the starting centre-forward.
The 22-year-old Dane has been linked with a move away, but he recently made it clear he’s not going anywhere.
“I just want to keep working hard and stay focused,” Hojlund said last week.
“Whatever happens, I’m here to fight for my place.”
He welcomed the idea of competition, saying it only sharpens his game—and the team’s.
“I think people forget I’m only 22. Not every striker is banging in 100 goals by that age,” he added.
“But I’m developing, learning the basics better, and I’ve had a good pre-season so far.”
What’s Next for United?
With the transfer window still open, Manchester United remain active in the striker market.
Whether it’s Sesko, Jackson, or Kolo Muani, they clearly intend to bring someone in.
But at the same time, they’re not in panic mode—especially with a focused and motivated Hojlund ready to step up.
The coming weeks could determine just how sharp United’s front line will be for the season ahead.
