Amid renewed political debates and ongoing revelations from past investigations, President Donald Trump is back in the headlines—this time over what he’s calling the “crime of the century.”

His focus? The now-infamous Russia investigation that first made waves during the 2016 presidential election.

Trump Pushes Back After FBI Burn Bag Revelation

Trump reignited his criticism after Kash Patel, his former acting chief of staff at the Pentagon and a key figure in his circle, claimed he had discovered a collection of classified documents inside FBI “burn bags”—essentially shredded or to-be-destroyed materials.

Trump didn’t hesitate to call out top Democrats, whom he believes orchestrated what he still calls a Russia “hoax.”

Sharing a video from conservative commentator Victor Davis Hanson, Trump emphasized his anger on Truth Social, writing in bold letters: “They must pay for the crime of the Century!”

Conservative Commentary Sparks Conspiracy Claims

In the video Trump reposted, Hanson accuses senior intelligence officials of knowing there was no collusion between Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russia.

He even goes so far as to allege a deliberate plot between the U.S. intelligence community and former President Barack Obama to sabotage Trump’s political future.

The video shows grainy clips of Obama as Hanson narrates what he describes as an unprecedented abuse of power.

Declassified Materials Bring New Controversy

As Trump continues to fuel public outrage, his national security team is working behind the scenes to release documents from the Russia probe that date back to his first campaign against Hillary Clinton.

Some of these files are already sparking explosive headlines, especially after the Senate Judiciary Committee, led by 91-year-old Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, made public a 29-page classified annex from Special Counsel John Durham’s investigation.

Durham Files Suggest a Clinton-Driven Plan

One of the most attention-grabbing pieces in Durham’s annex is a set of emails allegedly linking the Clinton campaign to a plan that aimed to associate Trump with Vladimir Putin.

One email, said to come from Leonard Benardo of the Open Society Foundations (founded by George Soros), includes the line: “Julie says it will be a long-term affair to demonize Putin and Trump.”

The email suggests the strategy was first aimed at creating a post-Democratic convention bounce and then pushing the FBI to escalate the issue.

However, Benardo denied ever seeing the message or knowing who “Julie” was, casting doubt on the document’s authenticity.

Questions About Email Credibility Remain

Investigators acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the email’s origin.

Some experts believed the emails were legitimate—especially since Benardo was reportedly hacked by Russians.

Others suggested they could have been altered or entirely fabricated.

While investigators couldn’t recover the exact email in question, they did find other communications containing the same phrasing, which only deepened the mystery.

Clinton Campaign’s Role Under Renewed Scrutiny

Durham, who was appointed during Trump’s presidency to investigate the origins of the Russia probe, didn’t rule out the possibility that Clinton campaign advisor Julianne Smith was at least partly involved in shaping the anti-Trump narrative.

He also emphasized that, regardless of whether the plan was real or based on shaky intel, the FBI should have been far more cautious about acting on politically loaded information.

Durham pointed out that the infamous Steele dossier—funded in part by the Clinton campaign and billed as legal services—was already under fire for being discredited.

Hillary Clinton reportedly told investigators that the whole plan looked like Russian disinformation to her.

Trump Uses Revelations to Reinforce His Narrative

Never one to let controversy slip away, Trump capitalized on the burn bag story even though he didn’t initially seem to understand a reporter’s question about it the day before.

He has continued blasting out his version of events on Truth Social, saying: “The Russia, Russia, Russia hoax is now totally undisputed! The facts are all there, in black and white.”

He declared it “the biggest scandal in American History” and called for severe consequences for what he sees as an intentional attempt to take him down.

Nunes and Gabbard Add Fuel to the Fire

Trump also promoted a video clip of Devin Nunes, the former GOP Congressman who now runs Trump’s media company.

In the clip, Nunes claims not only was Hillary Clinton behind the strategy, but that the Soros-backed Open Society Foundations were also involved in a broader scheme that spanned from 2016 all the way through to the Mar-a-Lago FBI raid.

Trump has even accused former President Obama of “treason” based on revelations by former intelligence official Tulsi Gabbard, underscoring just how far he’s willing to take these claims.

The Political Storm Is Far From Over

As new documents continue to surface and Trump amplifies his outrage, the debate over the Russia probe is clearly far from settled.

Whether these revelations will lead to legal consequences or simply serve as political fuel remains to be seen—but for Trump, it’s clear this is a fight he has no plans of walking away from.
