Abuja: Association distributes relief materials to Widows, Orphans

The Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association, (DEPOWA) has distributed relief materials to over one hundred Widows and Orphans of Nigeria‘s military personnel in Abuja.

The President of the Association, Mrs Vickie Irabor who distributed the materials in Abuja, the nation’s capital said that “The humanitarian gesture is aimed at complementing the Social Intervention Programmes of the Armed Forces to the less privileged.”

She noted that the wives of fallen heroes go through a lot in bringing up their children without their husbands that paid the supreme price in defending their fatherland.

The DEPOWA President said that “The widows need encouragement as the association gave the widows relief materials adding that “the gesture will continue.”

Mrs Irabor also presented some items and money to Christ Treasured Royal Orphanage ministry.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Blessing Suleman on behalf of the military widows expressed their appreciation for the gesture.
The Founder of the Orphanage ministry, Mrs Ovie Abraham who expressed appreciation for the gesture said “The orphanage needs sponsors for the children who are going to school.”
Items given to them were Rice, Yam, Beverages, Noodles, Garri, Beans, and Money among others.
