Armed gang ambushes man and kills his XL Bully dog during brutal park attack in Aberdeen

Aberdeen
Aberdeen

What started as a typical evening in a quiet Aberdeen park quickly spiraled into chaos when a violent incident left a man in hospital and his dog fatally wounded.

Disturbing footage from the scene has left the local community shaken.

A Peaceful Evening Turns Violent in Mastrick

The incident happened on Sunday around 8:30 p.m. in Eric Hendrie Park—an area long known to locals as “the Woodies”—in the Mastrick part of the city.

A 51-year-old man was allegedly targeted in a brutal ambush involving several men, one reportedly carrying a machete.

Police are now treating the whole ordeal as an attempted murder and have launched a manhunt for the suspects involved.

Graphic Video Captures Terrifying Moments

Several clips from the incident have been circulating among residents.

One video shows a man in a short-sleeved shirt being suddenly attacked by a group of men dressed in dark clothing.

A white Mini is seen racing into the scene with its passenger door wide open as one of the attackers raises what looks like a machete.

The man is knocked backward by the blow, and another individual in blue clothing joins the rush.

It’s a chaotic scene, with different camera angles capturing snippets of the shocking moments.

XL Bully Dog Tries to Defend Owner

In one of the more distressing parts of the footage, the man’s dog—an XL Bully—can be seen charging toward the armed group, apparently trying to protect its owner.

The dog lunges at one of the attackers, who appears to strike the animal with the machete.

A different angle shows the armed man fleeing down a small hill as the dog continues barking and chasing.

Despite being struck, the dog keeps going, trying to leap onto the Mini’s bonnet while attacking from behind.

Armed Chaos Spills Across the Park

As the terrifying encounter unfolds, the white Mini keeps circling through the park and eventually heads toward Deveron Road.

The dog doesn’t give up, continuing to chase the car through the grass and onto the street.

Another man, also believed to be armed, is seen following the vehicle.

At one point, the car hits the tarmac with a crunch, startling a bystander who’s heard exclaiming, “F****** nightmare.”

The footage ends as the dog keeps circling the stopped car.

Police Say Investigation Is Still Ongoing

Authorities have yet to arrest anyone in connection with the attack.

The injured man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where his condition was described as “serious but stable.”

Detective Sergeant Emma Low from Police Scotland confirmed that detectives are still piecing together the details.

“Our investigation is at an early stage as we try to understand exactly what happened,” she said.

Witnesses Urged to Come Forward

Police are appealing to the public for help. Anyone who may have seen the attack or has any information is being asked to contact officers on 101, quoting incident number 3236 of July 27, 2025.

For those who wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers is available at 0800 555 111.

As the investigation continues, many in the Aberdeen community are left stunned by the violent events that unfolded in what’s usually a peaceful neighborhood park.
