And they’ve made a statement with their very first signing.
The reigning Betway Premiership champions have officially brought in Bafana Bafana’s standout left-back Fawaaz Basadien from Stellenbosch FC — a move that’s already got fans buzzing.
Basadien Joins the Yellow Nation After a Stellar Season
At 28 years old, Basadien is coming off a phenomenal season, having notched seven goals and eight assists across 48 appearances — not bad for a defender.
His consistency, versatility, and attacking edge caught the attention of top clubs, but it’s Sundowns who’ve secured his signature.
Announcing the news on social media, the club wrote, “It’s time to get ready for a new season! Introducing our newest signing – the versatile & talented Fawaaz Basadien! Welcome to the Yellow Nation, Fawaaz.”
He now becomes Sundowns’ first official signing heading into the 2025/26 Betway Premiership and CAF Champions League campaigns.
Changes in the Squad as Suarez and Kodisang Depart
As new faces arrive, others are moving on. Argentine defender Lucas Suarez won’t be returning after his short six-month loan spell — the club opted not to offer him a permanent deal.
Meanwhile, Kobamelo Kodisang is heading to Europe, on loan to Portugal’s AVS Futebol, marking the next chapter in his development.

According to the latest reports, Sundowns are close to securing two more signings to bolster their squad even further.
First up is Khulumani Ndamane, a TS Galaxy defender who’s also earned national caps with Bafana Bafana.
The second is Aphelele Teto, a quick-footed winger from Chippa United with flair and attacking creativity.
