What if our schools could do more than just teach about climate change—what if they could live it?

That’s exactly the vision behind the Green School Summit, the flagship event of the Green School Activation Programme (GSAP).

This bold initiative is transforming the way we approach education and sustainability across Africa—starting right inside our classrooms, gardens, and school walls.

More Than a Talk—It’s an Activation

The Green School Summit isn’t just a gathering. It’s a movement.

It’s where passionate teachers, forward-thinking school leaders, environmental professionals, and other key players come together to kick-start a future where schools are climate-smart, environmentally conscious, and fully equipped for what lies ahead.

This summit is all about taking action—not just talking about change, but creating it.

A Whole-School Transformation Approach

At the core of GSAP is a powerful concept: the whole-school approach.

That means climate education isn’t just a topic in a textbook—it’s infused into the way schools operate.

From sustainable school gardens that boost food security, to eco-friendly infrastructure and circular economy innovations, every part of the school environment plays a role.

This isn’t about adding sustainability to the curriculum—it’s about building it into the school’s DNA.

Empowering Schools to Tackle Africa’s Biggest Challenges

The Green School Summit aims to show that schools can do more than just educate—they can lead.

Whether it’s helping communities fight climate change, reduce environmental degradation, or improve local food systems, schools have the power to spark lasting impact.

And in the process, students gain richer, more meaningful learning experiences.
