For Indiana Fever fans eagerly waiting to see Caitlin Clark back on the court, it looks like the wait isn’t quite over yet.
The WNBA rookie sensation has been sidelined for a while—and according to the latest updates, her return might not come until mid-August.
Still Sidelined with a Nagging Groin Injury
Clark was once again missing in action during the Fever’s Sunday matchup against the Chicago Sky.
That makes it four straight games she’s missed and 13 total this season.
The issue? A groin injury she picked up during a tough game against the Connecticut Sun back on July 15.
Even though the team had labeled her condition as “day-to-day,” ESPN’s Holly Rowe shared some insight during the broadcast that suggested her absence may stretch a bit longer.
While Clark did visit a specialist last week and no additional injuries were found, the Fever are choosing to play it safe this time around.
Fever Taking a More Careful Approach This Time
Coach Stephanie White has made it clear: there’s no rush to get Clark back on the floor until she’s fully ready.
Speaking during the game broadcast, Rowe explained that Clark’s previous return from injury didn’t give her enough time to build up her conditioning or sync back in with the team.
“This time,” Rowe said, “they’re going to make sure she gets practice time and a chance to find rhythm with her teammates again.”
That means the Fever are eyeing a window later in August, when the schedule offers a few more practice opportunities, to possibly bring her back.
August Looks Like the Most Likely Return Window
While the team continues to call her status “day-to-day,” all signs are pointing to a more realistic return around the third week of August.
That period gives the Fever a bit of breathing room—after five games in the next 11 days, they’ll only have one game between August 16 and 22.
That break could be just what Clark needs to get back to game shape without being thrown straight into a packed schedule.
Still Supporting Her Team from the Sidelines
Even though she’s not on the court, Clark’s presence is still felt.
She traveled with the team and was on the bench during the Fever’s 93–78 win over the Sky on Sunday.
Also missing from that game was Angel Reese, who’s dealing with a back issue.
Clark, who never missed a single game during her college career at Iowa or earlier in her rookie season, is navigating her first real injury setback.
And while fans are eager to see her light up the scoreboard again, the Fever are making it clear: health and longevity come first.
