After a rocky start to the preseason, the Washington Commanders can finally breathe a sigh of relief — Terry McLaurin is back.

The star wide receiver reported to training camp on Saturday, ending a tense standoff with the team that saw him miss the unofficial start last week.

His absence had raised eyebrows, especially given the very public frustration he’s shared about stalled contract talks.

A Key Presence Returns — But Not Just Yet on the Field

Although McLaurin is back in the building, fans shouldn’t expect to see him in action right away.

Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed the receiver is currently on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list due to an ankle injury.

That means while he’s around, he’s not practicing yet.

“Terry McLaurin has reported and we’re very happy about that,” Quinn said on Saturday.

“He’ll start training camp on PUP for his ankle.”

So for now, he’ll be working closely with the team’s medical staff as he recovers.

Contract Drama Still Lingers Behind the Scenes

The standoff isn’t entirely over, though. General Manager Adam Peters and the rest of the Commanders’ front office are still deep in negotiations with McLaurin’s camp.

The wideout, who’s been vocal about his dissatisfaction, is still seeking a deal that reflects his value.

While his return is a big step, both sides still have work to do before they reach a full resolution.

Optimism Amid the Uncertainty

Even though the ankle injury keeps McLaurin sidelined for now, his return is still a positive sign.

It shows a willingness to engage and possibly a softening of tensions.

With the team’s top receiver back on site and conversations ongoing, there’s renewed hope in Washington that both sides can find common ground before the season begins.

Stay tuned — there’s definitely more to come.
