This is what Baxter had to say about Amakhosi’s mindset as a whole.
“Our mindset is not that at the moment, instead, our mindset is that of anxiety. I don’t know exactly why but I said earlier that the Chiefs shirt can weigh heavy. When the player thinks of themselves or fans think that they’re not up to the required standard,” Baxter stated on KickOff.

Baxter is genuinely concerned by the mindset at the club. He believes they should be assertive and confident about winning, not being afraid to lose.
“Is it a concern, absolutely, and we have to ask ourselves why is that and then that will be something to fix in the walls of our training ground,” Baxter added.
He certainly has a point – you can see it in how Amakhosi approach each game.
They seem more afraid to lose than willing to outplay and dominate opponents that they are more than capable of beating. Giving too much respect to opponents and playing as if they are overwhelmed by the weight of expectation that comes with donning the green and black of Chiefs.
When Chiefs play with confidence, they are one of the best side’s in the country.
They pushed Mamelodi Sundowns (comfortably our best side) to the end when they met in the quarter finals of the MTN8. The Brazilians eventually won 3-2 but Amakhosi showed how dangerous they can be on attack.
