Just when it seemed like Liverpool had wrapped up their major summer signings, a new name has grabbed headlines—Newcastle United’s star striker, Alexander Isak.

While the Reds already shelled out £116 million for German sensation Florian Wirtz, they’re now reportedly ready to go even bigger to secure the Swedish frontman.

Liverpool Set to Break Records Again

Liverpool has never shied away from making bold moves in the transfer market, and this time they’re prepared to surpass the British transfer record with a bid rumored to exceed £125 million for Isak.

That figure would be on top of their already impressive spending this summer. However, there’s one major roadblock: Newcastle.

The Magpies aren’t playing ball. They’ve made their stance clear—Isak is not for sale.

And with that firm refusal, Liverpool has started exploring alternatives, with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike emerging as a potential option.

The French striker could cost around £82 million, still a significant sum, but less than Isak.

Agent Hints at Possible Exit

Fueling the speculation, Isak’s agent, Gonzalo Gaitan, recently broke his silence in an interview with Saudi media outlet Arriyadiyah.

While he didn’t confirm a move, his comments suggested the possibility of change.

“We’re carefully evaluating all possibilities and may soon reach a decision about his next move,” Gaitan said, stopping short of revealing whether the striker would stay at St. James’ Park or make a switch.

There’s also been talk of interest from Saudi Arabian clubs, adding another twist to the story.

Howe Sits Isak Amid Mounting Uncertainty

Adding more weight to the rumors, Isak was noticeably absent from Newcastle’s pre-season match against Celtic, a game they lost 4-0.

Manager Eddie Howe later explained the striker’s omission, citing the ongoing speculation and a mutual decision to keep him away from the spotlight.

“I made the call to send him home,” Howe told reporters after the match.

“If he wasn’t going to play, the last thing he needed was to sit in the stands and deal with all that attention. It was better for everyone that he stayed out of it.”

Howe confirmed Isak is physically fine and has been training, but with so much chatter around his future, they decided not to take any risks—especially since Newcastle considers him one of their irreplaceable players.

Newcastle Determined to Hold On

Despite the growing interest, Howe expressed confidence that Isak will remain a Magpie when the new season begins.

“He’s been fantastic in training, he’s happy here, and he gets along great with the squad and staff,” he said.

“I’ll never claim 100 percent certainty about any player’s future, but I have no issues with Alex.

We value him deeply and want to keep him in our plans.”

Howe also emphasized the importance of holding on to elite talent.

“Top players like him are incredibly rare and hard to replace.

We’ve got a few of those here, and we know how lucky we are to have them.”

A Rising Star in English Football

Since making the switch from Real Sociedad in 2022, Alexander Isak has quickly become one of the Premier League’s most exciting strikers.

His record speaks for itself—62 goals in just 109 appearances for Newcastle across all competitions.

He even found the net in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool, helping secure a major trophy for the club.

What’s on the Horizon?

With transfer windows wide open and clubs across Europe and the Middle East circling, Isak’s future remains a hot topic.

Newcastle seems determined to keep their star man, but in the world of football, things can change quickly.

Whether he stays at St. James’ Park or makes a blockbuster move elsewhere, one thing is certain—Alexander Isak’s next step will be one of the biggest stories of the summer.
