Kim Kardashian opened up in a candid vlog this past Sunday about the emotional toll of preparing for the State Bar of California exam.
The eight-minute video, recorded just two weeks before the test last July, revealed the pressures weighing on the 45-year-old socialite and aspiring attorney.
“I’m going to film this… oh my god, I’m just so tired,” Kardashian confessed, her voice breaking.
“Every time I feel like I’m a step ahead, something happens to try to stop me from doing this.”
Tears streamed as she admitted moments of doubt: “A part of me just wants to stop.
I feel like my brain’s going to explode, and I have so much more to go.”
Facing Criticism and Standing Her Ground
Despite her moments of vulnerability, Kardashian has maintained confidence in her unconventional path.
Hours before breaking down, she responded to critics who questioned her choice to pursue an online law program instead of attending a traditional law school.
“Try it. Try it,” she challenged her detractors.
“I don’t really care about stuff like that,” she explained.
“They just don’t know my journey, and I don’t need them to.”
Kardashian has long been an advocate for criminal justice reform and seems determined to prove her critics wrong.
Intense Preparation and Physical Strain
Kardashian spent four months in rigorous study and devoted the two weeks leading up to the exam to tackling one subject per day with guidance from her professors.
With her children away on vacation, she focused entirely on preparing for the grueling test.
The stress, however, took a toll on her body. Poor sleep and hours hunched over study materials aggravated her back, revealing a few disc issues after an MRI.
“I was crying the other day… my back went out, and it was just the worst timing in the whole wide world,” she admitted.
Three days before the exam, she still had spasms and began wearing a brace to manage the pain.
A Mix of Optimism and Disappointment
On the day before the exam, Kardashian told her followers she felt prepared and physically stronger than she had in days.
“I feel good about everything. My body feels good… I feel prepared,” she said.
When the results came in on November 7, the same day her Hulu legal drama All’s Fair premiered, Kardashian learned she had not met the minimum score to pass.
Despite the disappointment, she vowed to continue her efforts.
“This dream means too much to me to walk away from,” she captioned her Instagram post.
“I’m going to keep studying, keep learning, and keep showing up for myself until I get there.”
Following in Her Father’s Footsteps
Kardashian’s determination is deeply personal. Her father, Robert Kardashian, was famously part of O.J. Simpson’s defense team during the 1995 murder trial.
Kim has long dreamed of continuing his legacy in the legal field, and the State Bar exam represents a crucial step toward that goal.
She is now scheduled to retake the rigorous two-day test on February 24–25.
Support from Family and Fans
Support poured in from her inner circle, including her sister Khloé, who wrote: “I am so so so proud of you! I saw how hard you studied and how badly you want this! Keep going! We don’t give up! You got this baby!”
Fans and followers also offered encouragement, resonating with the mix of vulnerability and determination she shared in her vlog.
A Flourishing Business Empire
While navigating her legal ambitions, Kardashian’s business ventures continue to thrive.
Her shapewear company, Skims, is now valued at $5 billion following a $225 million capital raise, boosting her already impressive $1.7 billion fortune.
“This announcement validates the hard work of our incredible team,” she said.
“We can’t wait to take Skims to the next level.”
Expanding Her TV and Film Projects
Kardashian is also juggling a host of entertainment projects.
She stars and executive produces All’s Fair, portraying divorce attorney Allura Grant in an all-female law firm.
She continues her role in the seventh season of The Kardashians on Hulu, and upcoming projects include starring in Amazon’s live-action Bratz film, Hulu pilot Group Chat, Netflix comedy The Fifth Wheel, and an Amazon thriller written by Natalie Krinsky.
Balancing business, media projects, and her pursuit of a legal career, Kardashian’s journey demonstrates a relentless drive to chase her goals—no matter how high the stakes.
