Dave Portnoy enters major network talks as Fox Sports considers Barstool Sports for college football coverage

It looks like Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy could be making a high-profile return to television — and just in time for college football season.

With Fox Sports reportedly undergoing a shakeup, Portnoy might be stepping into a big new role.

College Football Could Get a Barstool Twist

According to Front Office Sports, Portnoy is in discussions with Fox Sports about joining their college football pregame show, Big Noon Kickoff.

The potential deal would be wide-reaching — not only giving Portnoy a spot on the panel, but also bringing Barstool Sports content to the Fox network lineup.

Fox recently axed three of its shows, including Joy Taylor’s Speak and Emmanuel Acho’s The Facility.

That decision has opened up airtime — and it sounds like the network is looking to fill it with Barstool’s signature style and personalities.

Barstool Stars Lined Up for Air Time

It’s not just Portnoy being eyed for the spotlight. The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand reported that Dan “Big Cat” Katz, another major Barstool name, is also being considered for Fox programming.

These discussions are still ongoing, but it looks like Fox is eager to infuse their content with Barstool’s rowdy, no-holds-barred energy.

Portnoy Plays Coy, But Hints at Ohio State Trolling

As for Portnoy himself? He’s brushing off the reports — for now.

On his X (formerly Twitter) account, he addressed the rumors with typical bravado, neither confirming nor denying anything.

“These are nothing more than rumors at this point,” he posted.

“But all the crying from Columbus is making me feel like it’s Thanksgiving Day weekend again and Michigan is pounding a hapless Buckeye team into the mud for the billionth straight year.”

Classic Portnoy — never missing a chance to take a jab at rival Ohio State fans, especially as a proud Michigan alum.

What the Fox Lineup Might Look Like

If things go through, Portnoy would join a pretty stacked crew on Big Noon Kickoff, which already features former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, along with Matt Leinart, Brady Quinn, Mark Ingram, Chris Fallica, and host Rob Stone.

Adding Portnoy to the mix would definitely bring a different kind of energy to the show — and possibly stir up some college football drama in the best (or worst) way.

What’s Next?

While nothing’s officially signed yet, the talks seem serious.

If the deal is finalized, it could be a major moment for both Barstool Sports and Fox — and a signal that sports broadcasting is ready to embrace louder, more provocative voices.

Stay tuned — because this story isn’t done yet.
