British boxing star Chris Eubank Jr has shared some exciting personal news just days before his highly anticipated rematch with rival Conor Benn — he is set to become a father of twin boys.
Eubank Jr Shares the Happy Announcement
The Brighton fighter, son of legendary boxer Chris Eubank Sr, took to social media to announce the joyful development.
Posting a clip from the family’s BBC reality show The Eubanks: Like Father, Like Son, Eubank Jr told his father about the twins on the way.
On X, he wrote:
“So yes many of you guessed it. I will soon be joining the dad gang.
Only difference is I’ll be joining as a father of two! Twin boys!!
I’m so grateful for such a blessing & I will do my absolute best to give them the happiest upbringing I possibly can… just like my old man did for me.”
In the video, he tells his father:
“I want to start that next chapter in my life.
You’ve got two grandsons that are on the way.”
Eubank Jr also reflected on the kind of father he wants to be:
“I never thought about being a father for my whole life.
I want to be the type of father who my kids can talk to about anything.
I couldn’t do that with my old man, I couldn’t.”
Father and Son Reconnect After Years of Estrangement
Chris Eubank Sr was visibly thrilled by the news, pumping his fists and shouting in celebration.
Their relationship has been complicated over the years.
The pair were estranged for four years leading up to Eubank Jr’s first bout with Benn in April, which itself had been delayed by three years due to a failed drug test.
Tensions first arose in 2019, when Eubank Jr informed his father via letter that he would be stepping back from his role as trainer.
In the build-up to April’s fight, Eubank Sr criticized the bout, calling it “attempted murder” because of the extreme weight cut required, and also condemned his son for a controversial incident involving Benn.
Despite past difficulties, the duo have been working on rebuilding their relationship. Eubank Jr told Daily Mail Sport:
“It’s not been easy. It’s not an overnight thing.
People might think, well, he came to the fight and now they’re all lovey again.
No, it’s not that. We are still working to try and get back to how things were many, many years ago… But I’m confident that we’ll get there eventually.
He will be at my next fight, supporting me, and that’s very important to me.”
Family Inspiration and Fatherhood Aspirations
Eubank Jr has been hinting at plans to start a family for some time.
Earlier this year on the Diary of a CEO podcast with Steven Bartlett, he spoke about the love he has for his nephew Raheem, the son of his late brother Sebastian who tragically died in 2021.
He explained how that bond inspired him to want children of his own:
“It makes me want to have my own son.
I mean, Raheem is my son, but biologically I want to have my own son now because I love who I am and how I feel when I am around him.”
A New Chapter Begins
As the rematch with Conor Benn approaches, Eubank Jr is stepping into not just the ring, but a new chapter in life.
Becoming a father to twin boys adds a deeply personal milestone to what is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about fights in British boxing this year.
