After ten weeks of intense baking battles, Jasmine Mitchell has emerged as the winner of The Great British Bake Off 2025.
At just 23, the amateur baker wowed the judges consistently, earning the coveted Star Baker title five times before ultimately claiming the crown.
Jasmine spoke about her journey after the announcement: “Oh my goodness, I am just so overjoyed! Balancing exams while baking has been a rollercoaster, but I’ve done it, and I’m unbelievably happy.
I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to share this with.”
Judges Praise Jasmine’s Consistency and Skill
Prue Leith described Jasmine as “steady all the way through,” noting that such consistent performance is “almost unheard of.”
Paul Hollywood added, “Not once did we think she could go home that week… and yet she has won five Star Baker titles and now the overall series.
She’s done an incredible job and is one of the best we’ve seen in quite a while.”
The Final Signature Challenge Tests Creativity
The three finalists—Jasmine, Aaron Mountford-Myles, 38, and Tom Arden, 31—entered the iconic tent for their final round of challenges.
For the signature challenge, they had to bake 12 iced buns, split evenly between two distinct flavours.
-
Tom attempted piña colada finger buns and hot dog-style buns, but Paul slammed the bread as “awful,” with Tom admitting he’d used citric acid instead of salt.
-
Aaron created rhubarb and pear, and rhubarb and strawberry buns, but his bread was critiqued as “too hard.”
-
Jasmine opted for apricot and strawberry, and orange and white chocolate buns, which Prue called “absolutely delicious.”
Technical Challenge Pushes Bakers to Their Limits
Next, the finalists tackled the technical challenge: a tower of madeleines filled with lemon curd and decorated with white chocolate.
While all three struggled to remember the pink ribbons required for presentation, results varied:
-
Jasmine placed third after some undercooked madeleines caused her tower to falter.
-
Aaron took second, with judges noting he overfilled his madeleines with lemon curd.
-
Tom, despite misunderstanding the ombré element, claimed first place for the technical challenge.
Showstopper Cakes Seal the Competition
The final showstopper demanded a 1.2-metre-long table cake that combined elegance, flavour, and decoration.
-
Jasmine’s cake earned Prue’s praise for its beauty and Paul called it “wonderful.”
-
Aaron’s creation was deemed imperfect by Prue, with Paul struggling to discern its flavour.
-
Tom’s cake wowed the judges, described as “absolutely stunning” and “impeccable.”
After much deliberation, Jasmine Mitchell was crowned the winner of the 2025 series, cementing her status as a baking sensation.
Celebrating Without Cash Prizes
Despite the grueling competition, The Great British Bake Off winner does not receive a cash prize.
Instead, Jasmine walks away with flowers, a cake stand, and, of course, the prestige of claiming one of the most respected amateur baking titles in the UK.
